music video festival (m-v-f) was created in 2013 as a platform to showcase and celebrate music videos and highlight its importance and influence on popular culture, creative expression, technology and new content distribution formats. since then, and through a team of brazilian and international collaborators, m-v-f- has been building a legacy that involves an ever growing artistic community, consisting of musicians, directors, producers and a range of professionals within the music video segment and new audiovisual formats stemming from the digital era.
Together with the talent and lifetime partner Solenn Robic we were in charge of creating the communication of this year’s edition of m-v-f- as well as redesign the festival institutional website. It was mandatory to keep m-v-f- pre-existing identity so we had to play under the restrictions of logos and typography. We haven’t worked with slab fonts in ages so this was definitely challenging. A design system was created based on traditional video formats (4:3, 16:9, etc) which can be seen in the website exposed grid.
Moreover, for the communication of the 2021 edition, a green accent colour was brought in as a reference to chroma key background, a very characteristic element of music videos since the 1990s.
