Laughter and Tears Has No Accent
Laughter and tears have no accent was a show that took place between September and November 2016 at Swiss Cottage Gallery, London. A collaboration between Galeria Pivô, Camden Council and Frieze, the exhibition showcased the work of three Brazilian artists contemplating the body and language, or the language of the body.
Cibelle Cavalli Bastos, better know for her vocal performances, here shows her introspective and silent side with a series of watercolors produced between 2008 and 2016. Daniel Albuquerque brings a large set of previously unseen sculptures made of ceramic fragments: quasi-bones or quasi-images that are nonetheless abstract. Both artists’ work are shown backed by the sound of Lenora de Barros’ poem ri-chora (laughing-crying), in a verb-voco-visual version.
We were kindly invited by Maria do Carmo M. P. de Pontes and Pivô to design the exhibitions catalogue/booklet.
