Beyond Borders
In solidarity with Palestine, Fouta Harissa and Dolce Stil Criollo have partnered to raise funds for Gaza Medical Tent, a volunteer network of displaced Palestinian doctors and healthcare professionals providing free primary health services and crisis medical attention for children and adults in Gaza.
We are proud to present Beyond Borders: Weaving Art and Solidarity for Palestine, a collaboration that includes two climate-positive t-shirts and a handwoven silk scarf, alongside a mixtape for Bethlehem-based Radio Alhara.
Inspired by historical Palestinian resistance posters, our t-shirts come in either black or white. Our white shirt, “Pinecone,” draws on the slippage between two translations of Mahmoud Darwish’s poem, “Beyond Identification,” while our black shirt, “Walking Through Walls?,” reclaims rhizomatic approaches to movement and migration. Each t-shirt comes in an edition of 100, sized M, L, or XL.
Our silk scarf, handwoven in the medina of Tunis, features bold stripes in black, green, and white and is named “Zitoun,” after the olive tree whose roots transcend borders. This delicate beauty comes in an edition of 30.
As part of the project, a 3 hour long show was produced ans streamed at Bethlehem based Radio Al Hara. The mixtape weaves voices and sounds in the form of poetry and music and includes past Dolce Stil Criollo contributors and friends of the publication who are part of solidarity networks for Palestine: Alina Maldonado, Andrés Paniagua, Andrew Riad, Anthony Almendárez, Assia Turquier-Zauberman, Basman Aldirawi, Carla Boregas, Concepción Huerta, Daniela Subbs Levi, Devil Gremory, Dj Foguin, ehCaetano aHía Menuzum, Ejuku, Funto & Tosin aka BABAS, Gerab, Gigios, Grace Villamil, Hara Alonso, Jean Carla Rodea, jjoaoapaes, Johan Mijail, Jordan Topiel Paul, Lamia Hatira, Leila Baalbalki, Lucía Hinojosa Gaxiola, Mahmoud Darwish, Mandy Shunnarah, Maru Pabón, Mayada Ibrahim, Nicole Cecilia Delgado, Paul Catafago, Raffi Garabedian, Refaat Alareer, Rico Jorge, Roberto Tejada, Rolando Hernández, Samer Abu Hawwash, Tenaya Nasser-Frederick, TYV, and unmade.
